I attended the University of Southern Mississippi and graduated in May with a degree in Elementary Education. Welcome to South Lincoln, Ms. Lyda! Ms. Lyda is currently employed at East Limestone High School serving as the junior and senior guidance counselor. She is finishing her 28th year in education. She began her career as a biology, health, and science teacher for grades 7-10. From there, she began her guidance career spanning over 23 years serving grades kindergarten through 12th grade. Ms. Lyda has a Bachelor’s degree in Biology and Health Education from Troy University, a Master’s degree in school counseling from Jacksonville State University, and an Educational Specialist degree in school counseling from The University of Alabama. Being a life long learner has been a priority to her through her years as an educator, with a high priority being to encourage students, parents, and colleagues to further their education as well. Ms. Lyda is originally from Flat Rock, Alabama and resides in Athens. Her roots take her back to growing up in a rural area where hometown traditions are held high and school pride runs deep. She looks forward to encouraging her students to love and appreciate the exact same priorities and values that have been so important to her over the years. Ms. Lyda has two children, Bronson and Roman Schrimsher. Bronson (23), recently graduated from The University of North Alabama, majoring in Business and Project Management. He is currently enjoying the start of his new career and living life on his own. Roman (18), a 2024 East Limestone High School graduate, will be attending Troy University in the fall, pursuing a Business degree in Data Analytics. Ms. Lyda is excited about getting to know the students and families of South Lincoln and looks forward to serving the needs of students, parents, and the community.
